Most people put growth on the back burner, and if they do grow, it happens accidentally instead of intentionally.
Take a look at your calendar for the next twelve months. How much time have you specifically scheduled for personal growth? If you’re like most people, your answer will be none.
To be honest i have never given much thought to growth, i use to think growth was automatic but i have come to realize that asides from my physical growth, any other growth i will ever record would have to be intentional.
Growth is something everyone desires. we want to grow in our jobs, in our businesses, in our relationships, we desire to become the best versions of ourselves, we want to be able to set goals and achieve them, but oftentimes we don’t, because we haven’t really embraced the law of “Intentionallity”
Many people only learn from the school of hard knocks, difficult experiences teach them lessons “the hard way” sometimes it’s for the better other times it’s for worse, the lessons are random and difficult this is why it is much better to plan your own growth intentionally, decide on the areas in your life where you would love to see growth and improvement then set goals for yourself and follow through with discipline.
it won’t be a fun trip, as a matter of fact growth can be really messy and draining, because it takes a lot of time, preparation and effort. that’s why you need to be intentional about it.
okay hol up! i know you are screaming inside! “cut to the chase”.
first off you need to ask yourself the big question what do i want to do? what areas of my life do i want to see improvements in. For me it’s my business and my personal growth i feel like i haven’t really grown in so many areas of my life like i expected i would. A lot of us stumble into big breaks and good opportunities and go ahead to do nothing to improve on these opportunities.
Grow intentionally.
Darren Hardy, the publisher of SUCCESS magazine, says,“Picture where you are in [any] area, right now. Now picture where you want to be: richer, thinner, happier, you name it. The first step toward growth is awareness.
If you want to get from where you are to where you want to be, you have to start by becoming aware of the choices that lead you away from your desired destination. Become very conscious of every choice you make today so you can begin to make smarter choices moving forward.”You cannot change direction if you aren’t aware that you’re not headed where you want to go. That probably sounds obvious.
My greatest growth has always come as a result of finding people ahead of me who were able to show me the way forward. Some of them have helped me through personal contact, but most have helped through the books they’ve written. When I’ve had questions, I’ve found answers in their wisdom.
you have discovered what you want to do, and found people who do what you want to do with excellence, now you must be disciplined to follow through with the goals that you have set.
